Urban Strategies Council

Counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano

Project Year: YOR II Project (2020-2022)

Project Name: Urban Strategies Council – “Youth On The Rise”

Project Description: The Urban Strategies Council implemented  a robust, engaging, and impactful youth-development and youth-led opioid disorder education and collaboration building initiative targeting African American youth (ages 12-24) in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano Counties. The target group of young people are from families and communities that are disproportionately impacted by opioid misuse and disorders. The program goal is to strengthen the capacity of young leaders to reduce opioid use among their peers. The Council is trained peer leaders (Council Fellows in Residence) to implement community outreach and education activities. The Council convened a network of service providers to strengthen and increase connections with underserved and at-risk youth.
